Final Destination 2

I'm just going to come out and say it. I really liked this movie. I wasn't expecting anything when I went in and I came out really surprised. This movie won't break any records or make my top ten but if you are in the mood for some mindless entertainment, I suggest seeing it.
The story begins very similar to the first film. With heroine, Kimberly, haveing a vision of a horrific car accident. She manages to block up traffic long enough to save those who would have died in the tragic crash. This begins a chain of event reminiscent of the first movie. Howeve, the survivors soon learn they are all connected to flight 180 (The plane crash in "Final Destination") in bizarre ways. Now they must band together to try and cheat death.
The acting is about what you would expect. Sometimes it is more than adequate, other times it is sub par. Of course, Tony Todd, though he only has a few minutes of screen time, steals the movie. It takes a great actor to make a lasting impression on the audience with only a few minutes.
The directing was quick paced and well put together. I was never bored for a second. And the director knew just when to cut away to add suspense. While most movies rely on story telling to move the film, FInal Destination 2 uses action in the form of killing. The audience sits in the theater not waiting for the next plot twist but for the next character to be killed. What bizarre twist of fate will claim the life of our next victim? In any other movie this would be a fault. But this series is centered around "how fate cannot be beated." And let me just say, they kill off the characters in some crazy ways. You know you have achieved the desired effect when the audience in unison yells "OOOOH, DAMN!"
If you only enjoy horror films that are meant to depress people than this film isn't for you. The film is made to entertain. And that is what it does. Yes, there is some dark comedy in it but that does not make it any less a horror film. So, if you have nothing to do one rainy afternoon give "Final Destination 2" a chance. You may be surprised.
